"I think of the landscape not as a fixed place but as a path that is unwinding before my eyes, beneath my feet"

The Blackwater Valley is home to several thousand archaeological and historical monuments. These monuments are, in many cases, steeped in history and in wonderful local mythology; they sit within a rolling, leafy landscape of working farms and clear trout streams.

We are currently developing a heritage trail to lead visitors and locals alike on a winding path of discovery through the archaeology, mythology and history of the Blackwater Valley. Utilising our future guide, you will be able to follow the Heritage Trail to places where Norman Knights once fought, where future Kings prayed and where legends have grown through the mists of time....

The interactive map below allows you access information about the many special places in the Blackwater Valley and help you plan your visit.
